Apprenticeship standards with occupation duties
We have noticed when adding apprenticeship standards to the Stedfast library that a number of them have specific occupation duties as well as the normal knowledge, skills and behaviours. We thought it might be helpful to show how these curriculum plans can be developed using Stedfast.
Some apprenticeship standards contain specific occupation duties
Creating an Assessment
The first step in any curriculum planning is to create the assessment plan. This allows users to set the curriculum intent and add the measures that will determine when a learner is ready for end point assessment. In this example we are using the Marketing Assistant standard and as well as adding the knowledge, skills and behaviours we have also added the occupational duties.
Occupational duties have been added to the assessment plan
Adding assessment plan measures
Once the assessment plan has been created and the outcomes added, users can start to add the measures. These are important as they identify the curriculum intent (what you want learner to know or be able to do and why).
Add one or more measures for each of the occupational duties
Measures hold the key information relating to curriculum intent and also the benchmark requirement. The benchmarks will be used later to analyse curriculum impact.
Curriculum intent is what you want learners to be able to know or do and why
Mapping occupational duties to standards
The next step in this process is to map the occupational duties with the knowledge, skills and behaviours.
Curriculum Implementation
The next step in curriculum planning process is to develop the curriculum implementation. To do this we will need to set up an implementation plan.
Setting up a curriculum implementation plan is a simple process
Users can now start to work on this implementation plan
Creating a template
The next step in the curriculum design process is to create the activities template. This allows users to have titled fields in each of the implementation activities.
Users can add curriculum implementation templates
Adding curriculum implementation activities
Users can know add the activities that make up the curriculum implementation.
Add curriculum activities
Adding curriculum activities is a 3 step process.
Step 1 - Add basic details. Select if the activity involves learning, practice and/or assessment
Step 2 - Select the standards that will be covered in the activity
Step 3 - Add the activity details
Details are easily added to the template
Addressing Occupational Duties
With the apprenticeship standards that include occupational duties it is easy to add these into the curriculum plan. In this example we have set the activity to having juts practice and assessment.
In step 1 we have added the overview information and selected practice and assessment
In step 2 we have added the aligned knowledge, skills and behaviours
In step 3 we have added the detail as well as downloadable resources
We have continued to add the activities that cover all of the programme
Curriculum Sequence
Once all of the activities have been added, users can the easily see the curriculum sequence.
Users can easily see and demonstrate the curriculum sequence
Curriculum Mapping
Another important feature of curriculum planning is curriculum mapping. We recently write a post - Curriculum mapping - How important is it?
In Stedfast, users can easily see the system generated curriculum plan and it will then provide the opportunity to conduct curriculum gap analysis.
Stedfast generates curriculum mapping
Seeing Stedfast
This is a very simple overview on how to create a curriculum plan for apprenticeship standards that have occupational duties. If you would like more information or would like to see Stedfast through an online demo then please contact us.
